Storage: A homes close friend
Over the past decade I've been through over a thousand homes and I was thinking about some practicalities that seem to be a must for most people, yet may get over looked during a sale. So I thought I would share in the post the importance of: storage.
Garage Storage: Space in a garage is highly important. When your garage is organized your house is organized. With a cleaner and neater garage, you're less likely to track in tons of debris into your house, and it makes finding that rare item that we finally has use for a lot easier to locate.
Utility Storage: A utility room is a great 'in between' room and is a wonderful thing to have in a house. It's a great way to have access to things that are used frequently enough, that you don't want to keep them in the garage yet maybe too toxic or unsightly that you'd like to have them a little more removed then say the bathroom cabinets or towel closet.
Kitchen Panteries: If a home comes with a kitchen pantry, it definitely brings the comfort of lots of room & storage. I can't even imagine to think where I would store all my kitchen appliances & food if we didn't have one.
One last thought and idea I learned from a client long ago that is a great idea is the use & labeling of plastic bins. In our closets, we use various size small plastic bins to sort and label such things as: 'Bandaids', 'cold medicine', 'house tools', 'extra school supplies'... you get the idea. It's easy to find and easy to keep organized once you set it up.
